EARLY REGISTRATION PSA'S
HELENA—Today Secretary of State Brad Johnson’s office announced new public service announcements encouraging early voter registration.
“Montana’s elections are among the cleanest, fairest, most efficient in the nation. We need every single eligible Montanan to help keep them that way. I hope eligible Montanans will hear these PSAs and register early to vote. It’s the easiest thing you can do to serve your country,” Johnson said.
Montana residents can register by downloading the form from www.montanavotes.net and mailing it in, by calling 888-884-8683, or by visiting their county elections office. The deadline for regular voter registration for the primary election is May 5, 2008. Montana law allows for late voter registration after the deadline, but Johnson encouraged eligible voters to register before the deadline.
“Why wait?” he asked. “It’s easy, it’s free, and it’s the right thing to do. What’s more, waiting for late registration makes a lot of extra work for the county employees who run elections offices. Everything goes smoother if we get prepared in advance.”
The primary election is on June 3, 2008. The deadline for regular registration is on May 5, 2008. A new period for regular registration will begin again after the primary election. Voter registration forms, as well as other election information, are available at www.montanavotes.net.
