HELENA- Secretary of State Linda McCulloch will be joined by high school students and Montanans to celebrate the passage of the 26th Amendment on Wednesday, March 27 at 3:00 p.m. in the Montana State Capitol Rotunda.
The 26th Amendment grants 18 year olds the fundamental right to vote. Montana was the 8th state in the nation to ratify the Amendment on March 29th, 1971. The majority of the states quickly followed, making it the fastest ratification in history.
The event will feature high school seniors talking about the significance of casting their first vote, the Montana National Guard Honor Guard, the Helena High School Ambiance Choir, and a keynote from Secretary McCulloch discussing the importance of this Amendment for young Montanans.
