2014 CANDIDATE FILING STATISTICS
Candidate Filing Closed Monday, March 10 at 5:00 p.m.

HELENA - Secretary of State and Chief Elections Officer Linda McCulloch says a record number of candidates filed online in 2014. Candidates identifying with a qualified political party in Montana had to file for office by 5:00 p.m. on March 10 in order to be eligible for the Primary Election. Write-in candidates have until 5:00 p.m. on April 25 to file for the Primary Election. Independent, Minor Party and Indigent candidates have until 5:00 p.m. on May 27 to submit signed petitions to their county election administrator, with the declaration and filing fee due to the Secretary of State's Office by 5:00 p.m. on June 2.

"Candidates and voters are plugged in and ready for another exciting election," Secretary McCulloch said. "A record 69% of candidates filed electronically in 2014, which is up from 63% in 2012 and 59% in 2010. Voters are also online and checking in with us via their smartphones for polling place information, absentee ballot tracking, and more. Anyone who hasn't used "My Voter Page" should check it out before the Primary on June 3."
