Electronic Records and Information Management
Steering Committee
“Collaboration across each branch of government is imperative in order to ensure the business needs are addressed for all agencies.”
~ Secretary Brad Johnson ~
In November 2007, the Secretary of State and the State CIO, Dick Clark, initiated this co-chaired committee in an effort to “build the foundation” necessary for Montana’s state and local governments to meet changing state and federal regulations and technology capabilities and challenges in regards to electronic record and information management (eRIM).
The committee, at an executive, enterprise level, is addressing strategic and long-range planning, legislative initiatives and policy or administrative rule requirements. eRIM encompasses administrative, fiscal, technology, compliance and legal oversight; the same as hardcopy records management always has. However, the challenges of records management, in an electronic or digital world, require different standards and practices.
The committee is slated to meet the third Wednesday of each month, through May 2008.
